Kirurgen.dk offers modern laser and radiofrequency treatment for the treatment of varicose veins.
Varicose veins occur when the venous valves in the veins of the legs stop working. Varicose veins appear as visibly enlarged blue veins on the legs. There can be several reasons why the disease occurs, and not all of them are known. You can have primary varicose veins, which are typically hereditary and affect 15 – 30 percent of all adults, and secondary varicose veins, which can occur after illnesses, pregnancy or other things that have caused blood clots in the legs.
Varicose veins are generally a harmless condition. Many people will be able to maintain a normal daily life without treatment, but choose to be treated for cosmetic reasons. However, varicose veins can develop and cause serious symptoms, and you should always be examined by your doctor or a specialist such as Kirurgen.dk if you see incipient symptoms – prolonged swelling or pigment changes in the skin around the ankles.
Treatment
Varicose veins are treated by closing the diseased veins so that the blood in the legs can find new paths and flow freely. In the past, surgery in the traditional sense has been the standard for treatment (typically using a modified form of surgery called microsurgery), but new methods have emerged, both medical and thermal. The treatment method is assessed according to the individual patient’s physical conditions and symptoms.
At Kirurgen.dk we primarily use thermal treatment using laser. This treatment method can be used for the vast majority of patients and has a number of advantages. Laser treatment works by dissolving the nodes and closing the diseased veins through heating. The treatment only requires a very small incision, thus avoiding the formation of scars.
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and is virtually painless and without discomfort. Furthermore, the recovery period is short, and most patients will be able to go to work the day after treatment.
