Performing a vasectomy at Kirurgen.dk
We perform the sterilizing operation at our clinic in Charlottenlund. The vasectomy takes place under local anesthesia, and the operation itself involves removing a section of the vas deferens on both sides. A vasectomy is a relatively simple operation, and it takes about an hour from your arrival until you can leave the clinic again.
Vasectomy rarely leads to complications, and there are few discomforts after the procedure. Vasectomy does not limit sexual possibilities, and vasectomy does not affect a man's hormone production or sex drive.
After three months, we take a sperm sample to ensure that the vasectomy was successful. The process is then concluded, and the man is fully sterilized.

How is a vasectomy performed?+
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. The vas deferens on each side are divided and sealed through two small openings in the scrotum. It takes 15–20 minutes and you can go home immediately.
When is the vasectomy effective?+
A vasectomy does not work immediately. You must continue with other contraception until a semen sample after 3 months confirms there are no longer any sperm.
Is a vasectomy painful?+
The procedure itself is virtually painless thanks to local anaesthesia. There may be mild soreness and swelling for a few days, eased with pain relief and tight underwear.
Is sterilisation reversible?+
A vasectomy should be considered permanent. Reversal is technically possible but complex, costly and not always successful. You should therefore be certain of your decision.
