Do I need a referral to be seen at the clinic?

Not necessarily. The clinic holds a provider number under the Danish public health insurance and receives referred patients for services covered by the current agreement; whether a specific service is covered is clarified before the course of treatment. You are also welcome as a self-payer without a referral – in that case please contact the clinic to hear the price of the specific assessment or treatment you need.

How do I get a referral?

Book a visit with your own GP and describe your symptoms. If the GP decides you should see a surgeon or have an endoscopic examination, the GP sends an electronic referral directly to the clinic. You do not need to bring the referral yourself.

What do I need to bring to be assessed at the clinic?

You need your Danish health insurance card (the yellow card) and an up-to-date list of your regular medication. The clinic holds a provider number under the Danish public health insurance and receives referred patients for services covered by the current agreement; whether a specific service is covered is clarified before the course of treatment. If you have been investigated for the same problem before (scans, blood tests, operation notes), it helps if you bring copies or results with you.

How do I book an appointment?

Call the clinic to arrange a time – whether you come with a referral or as a self-payer. We cannot book online because we need your CPR number and have to review your information before we can find the right appointment slot. Phone number and opening hours are on the contact page.

How long is a referral valid?

Accepted Answer

A referral is normally valid for up to six months from the date it was issued. You only need one referral per course of treatment, even if there are several visits or a follow-up before and after the procedure.

Can I be assessed and treated without a referral?

Yes. We see self-payers for assessment and treatment across all of our services. Because the price depends on which examination or procedure you need (for example a preliminary consultation, ultrasound, colonoscopy or the procedure itself), please call the clinic for a specific quote before booking an appointment.
