Frequently asked questions

When should I read the patient guide?+

Read the guide as soon as you have booked your appointment, and again 1–2 days before. Some preparations (such as bowel cleansing or stopping certain medication) must begin several days in advance.

Do I have to fast before the examination?+

For gastroscopy and colonoscopy, yes — the specific fasting time is described in each guide. For most other procedures fasting is not required.

Can I take my regular medication?+

Most medication can be taken as usual with a sip of water. Blood thinners and diabetes medication may need to be adjusted — follow the instructions in your guide or call us.

Can I drive home after the examination?+

If you receive sedation you must not drive for 24 hours and need someone to accompany you home. Without sedation you can usually drive yourself.

What if I have questions not answered in the guide?+

You are always welcome to call the clinic Monday–Thursday 09:00–12:00 on +45 39 64 01 25 or write to mail@kirurgen.dk.
