Frequently asked questions
When should I read the patient guide?+
Read the guide as soon as you have booked your appointment, and again 1–2 days before. Some preparations (such as bowel cleansing or stopping certain medication) must begin several days in advance.
Do I have to fast before the examination?+
Fasting requirements are procedure-specific. For gastroscopy and colonoscopy fasting is normally required, and the time that applies to you is stated in the instruction you are given. For many other procedures fasting is not required.
Can I take my regular medication?+
Medication is reviewed individually and depends on the procedure. Do not stop or change prescribed medication on your own. Follow the instruction you are given for your specific appointment, or call us.
Can I drive home after the examination?+
If you receive sedation you must not drive for 24 hours and need someone to accompany you home. Without sedation you can usually drive yourself.
What if I have questions not answered in the guide?+

Questions before your appointment?
If you are in health insurance group 1 and have a valid referral from your GP, the examinations and treatments covered by the clinic's public health agreement are covered by the Danish public health insurance, so you pay nothing for them yourself. If you are in health insurance group 2, there is usually a small co-payment under the health insurance rules. If you are paying yourself, contact the clinic for a price.
