The content on Kirurgen.dk is written for patients and relatives. Here you can read how we write, which sources we use, how the content is medically reviewed and when it is updated.

Purpose
The content on Kirurgen.dk is written for patients and relatives who want to understand a condition, an examination or a course of care. It is information, not a substitute for a medical assessment of you personally.
How we write
- We use plain language and explain technical terms when they are needed.
- We distinguish between information, clinical assessment and treatment.
- We state what is known, and where matters are uncertain or individual.
- We do not promise services, prices, waiting times or result times that are not documented.
- We do not use patient stories or patient photographs as an argument for a treatment.
Sources
We base the content on authoritative sources. We prefer Danish professional sources such as Lægehåndbogen and Patienthåndbogen at sundhed.dk, the Danish Health Authority, the Danish multidisciplinary cancer groups and the Danish Cancer Society. Where Danish guidance does not cover a topic, we use recognised international society guidelines.
Sources are listed at the bottom of the pages where they are used, with direct links, so you can read on yourself. We do not use other clinics' marketing pages as a professional basis.
Medical review
Patient-facing content is reviewed by the clinic's specialist. Pages not yet reviewed carry no claim of medical review and no review date. We never state a date we cannot document.
Updating
Content is corrected when guidelines change, when we find an error, or when something has turned out to be unclear in practice. If a piece of information is outdated or wrong, you are very welcome to write to us.
Languages
When a page is available in more than one language, we aim for and check the same clinical meaning, red flags and sources. Translations undergo quality assurance before medical approval.
Interests and independence
The clinic is a specialist practice. The content is written to inform, not to sell a particular procedure. Where several reasonable options exist, we describe them, including waiting and watching.
Advertising and data
We show no advertising. For the use of cookies and statistics, see cookies.
Contact about the content
If you have a correction, a question about a wording or a suggestion, contact the clinic. See contact. Do not send your civil registration number or health information in ordinary email, and do not use email for acute symptoms.

Online booking is not available. Please call the clinic or ask your GP for a referral, so we can find the right appointment.
If you are in health insurance group 1 and have a valid referral from your GP, the examinations and treatments covered by the clinic's public health agreement are covered by the Danish public health insurance, so you pay nothing for them yourself. If you are in health insurance group 2, there is usually a small co-payment under the health insurance rules. If you are paying yourself, contact the clinic for a price.
