Price of varicose vein treatment

The clinic operates under the Danish public health insurance. With a GP referral, assessment and treatment of varicose veins are free. As a self-payer you receive a transparent price with no hidden fees.

Price with a GP referral

DKK 0. The full pathway – pre-assessment, laser (EVLA/EVLT), foam, microphlebectomy, compression stocking and follow-up scan – is covered by the Danish public health insurance. There is no out-of-pocket cost.

Price without a referral (self-payer)

  • Endovenous laser (EVLA/EVLT): DKK 12,000 per leg.
  • Classic surgical removal: DKK 8,000 per leg.
  • Foam sclerotherapy of smaller veins / spider veins: offered as part of the overall plan.
  • Pre-assessment alone (duplex ultrasound and consultation): contact the clinic.

What is included in the price?

  • Pre-treatment duplex ultrasound scan.
  • The procedure itself under local anaesthesia.
  • Compression stocking after treatment.
  • Follow-up scan after 4–6 weeks.

Why is the price per leg?

The price is per leg because the affected vein and best method usually differ between legs. When both legs are treated, we typically plan one at a time to ensure optimal healing and follow-up.

Payment and cancellation

Payment is made after treatment by card or bank transfer. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before your appointment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does varicose vein treatment cost?+

With a GP referral, the treatment is free – fully covered by public health insurance. As a self-payer, endovenous laser treatment (EVLA/EVLT) costs DKK 12,000 per leg, and classic surgical removal costs DKK 8,000 per leg.

What is included in the price?+

The price is all-inclusive and covers the preliminary examination with duplex ultrasound scan, the procedure itself under local anesthesia, compression stockings, and a follow-up scan after 4–6 weeks.

Why is the price per leg and not a total price?+

The affected venous system and the optimal treatment method are rarely the same for both legs. We typically plan one leg at a time to ensure good healing and control between procedures.

Can I get varicose vein treatment through health insurance?+

Many private health insurance policies cover the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins. We are happy to issue an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company. Contact your insurance provider before treatment to get pre-approval for the process.

How much does a preliminary examination alone cost?+

Referred patients pay nothing. As a self-payer, the preliminary examination with duplex ultrasound and medical advice is a separate fee – please contact the clinic for the current price.
